Russian war correspondents recently claimed that occupation forces had fully captured Pervomayske village in Donetsk Oblast’s Avdiivka sector, even releasing a video showing Russian troops planting a flag atop a destroyed building in the village. Slidstvo.Info spoke to the battalion commander of the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, Maksym “Kondor”, whose soldiers are holding Pervomayske. The soldier says that the Russians have entered only the village outskirts, Slidstvo.Info reports.

Battalion commander of the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade Maksym “Kondor” told Slidstvo.Info that he and his fellows are holding the defense of Pervomayske village in Donetsk Oblast: “Our guys are there, they are fighting, they are standing, they are not going anywhere. There is a lot of talk that there is no one there, and that the village has been surrendered. It has not been surrendered at all! We are fighting for it. The enemy has put up a flag on the edge of the village, and all the channels are now saying that they have taken Pervomayske. This is not true. My guys are still there, fighting. It is tough. But they are holding on.”

To confirm his words, Maksym “Kondor” sent Slidstvo.Info journalists a video shot on April 10, 2024, in which Ukrainian soldiers hold a blue and yellow flag in the center of the village on the ruins of a local school.

Earlier, Slidstvo.Info journalists talked to Kondor at his battalion headquarters near Avdiivka about his motivation to fight, the role of drones in the war, Russian losses in the assaults on Avdiivka, fatigue, and what would constitute a victory for him. The video has English subtitles.
