The stepson of Viktor Medvedchuk, a prominent pro-Russian Ukrainian politician, obtained a Russian passport after Moscow’s full-scale invasion and now co-owns a company managing business operations in the temporarily occupied part of Ukraine’s Donetsk Oblast.

Bogdan Marchenko, the son of Medvedchuk’s wife, became a citizen of the Russian Federation after the 2022 invasion. He joined the company as a co-founder in January 2026, according to an investigation by Slidstvo.Info and KibOrg titled Medvedchuk’s stepson receives Russian passport and manages business in occupied territory.

Federal Tax Service records show Marchenko received his Russian passport in Moscow on November 14, 2022 — three years before his sister, Darya Marchenko, also became a Russian citizen.

In mid-January 2026, Bogdan Marchenko became a co-founder of LLC Management Company Invest Osnova. His business partner at the firm is Russian national Marina Voronkova, who previously headed the investment company Region, where Viktor Medvedchuk’s brother, Sergei, works.

Both funds hold stakes in the Russian company Industrial Innovations, registered in the occupied Donetsk. Its primary activity is trade in metals and metal ores.

Industrial Innovations was established using assets stolen from an iron ore plant in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the Center for Investigative Reporting previously reported. Its director, Oleksandr Nenich, is identified on the Myrotvorets site as a fighter with the so-called “DPR” and a member of the Union of Donbas Volunteers.

According to Zaporizhzhia Oblast prosecutors, Nenich and his associates caused Ukraine losses of 7 billion hryvnias ($158.4 million). Illegal mining at the plant’s facilities produced and transferred to occupation authorities 989,504 tons of iron ore.

Ukrainian property records show Bogdan Marchenko owns six real estate objects in Ukraine.

These include a plot with an 83-square-meter house in Kyiv’s Zhuliany microdistrict, another plot, and a twice-as-large neighboring house. He also owns half a land plot and half a house on Montazhnykiv Street in Kyiv — across from Viktor Medvedchuk’s estate. After the full-scale invasion began, Ukrainian police guarded that estate under an agreement with Bogdan Marchenko.

Marchenko did not respond to calls or messages from journalists.
