Journalists from Slidstvo.Info found a photo of Polish citizen Krzysztof Galos taken together with Ukrainian soldiers. The photo was taken a few days before Galos disappeared in the city of Beryslav in the Kherson region. In addition, while researching Krzystof’s social media accounts, Slidstvo.Info found that the Polish man attended a rally in support of Ukraine in Warsaw.
Earlier, the media actively spread information that Krzystof had gone to Ukraine because he ‘did not believe in the war.’
This is stated in the investigation by Slidstvo.Info. This video has English and Polish subtitles.
Slidstvo.Info retraced the journey of Polish citizen Krzysztof Galos, who was captured in the Zaporizhzhia oblast and ended up in pre-trial detention centre No. 2 in Taganrog, Rostov oblast, Russian Federation. Those released from captivity told Slidstvo.Info that the Polish man was beaten to death there.

The editorial team learned from law enforcement sources that Krzysztof crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border on 14 April 2023 through the Krakivets car checkpoint. From 15 to 17 April, his phone was tracked in Odesa, and from 17 to 18 April, in Beryslav in the Kherson region. Using facial recognition software, journalists managed to find a photo of Krzysztof taken in Beryslav. Next to Krzysztof in the photo are two Defence Forces soldiers.

The location in the photo was identified thanks to the building in the background behind Krzysztof and the soldiers. In February 2023, the Media Initiative for Human Rightspublished a photo report from Beryslav, which shows that there is a graphic inscription ‘1941-1945’ on the city council building. The same inscription can be seen in Krzysztof’s selfie with the soldiers.

The Pole then travelled to the Zaporizhzhia oblast, where he disappeared on 20 April 2023.
To understand whether Krzysztof Galos really ‘did not believe in the war in Ukraine,’ journalists from Slidstvo.Info monitored his social media accounts, trying to understand whether he was spreading Russian propaganda narratives.

On 5 April 2023, nine days before his trip to Ukraine, Krzysztof Galos posted a video from Warsaw. That day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and then-Polish President Andrzej Duda gave speeches in the city square. Galos filmed it on his phone and captioned the video on his Facebook page: “Yesterday in Warsaw. Despite the low temperature, many people showed up.”
There are no pro-Russian statements on Krzysztof Galos’s pages.
As a reminder, Ukrainian soldiers stopped the Pole at a checkpoint on the Zaporizhzhia direction. Krzysztof told them that he was going to visit his girlfriend in the temporarily occupied Enerhodar.
The soldiers did not allow him to continue driving due to the danger.
