The documentary describes the circumstances surrounding the death of 45-year-old Oleksandr Stepanchenko in March 2022. He was driving from Kyiv to Irpin to hand over the keys to his cars to the Irpin territorial defence forces. However, on the Zhytomyr highway, near the village of Myla, Oleksandr’s car was shot at. He died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Soldiers from the Russian Federation’s 5th Tank Brigade were stationed near the spot where Oleksandr was shot. Their tank crews were positioned along the Zhytomyr highway and in the forest strip.
The documentary reconstructs the circumstances of Oleksandr Stepanchenko’s death; the filmmakers used unique audio intercepts as well as footage from the forensic investigation.
In the investigative documentary, a captured Russian officer recounts how his fellow soldier opened fire on a civilian car and then burned it along with the body.
