Sexual violence against men is a war crime that people tend to keep quiet about. It is a taboo subject: people aren’t used to talking about it, and it’s uncomfortable to discuss, because men don’t cry and don’t air their dirty laundry in public.
Four brave men recounted what the Russians actually did to them for taking a proactive Ukrainian stance. They were neither afraid nor ashamed to speak of the atrocities committed by the Russian military. So that the whole world might know what Russia is really like. So that the perpetrators might be found and punished.
The Russians hoped the men would remain silent, but journalists documented events that may one day serve as evidence in an international court.
