An investigation into the murder of Kherson activist and public figure Kateryna Handziuk. In July 2018, unknown assailants doused the 33-year-old woman with sulfuric acid; she died in hospital three months later. Shortly before her death, Slidstvo.Info journalists spoke with Kateryna, and she shared her own theories about the attack. Investigating those theories formed the backbone of the investigative film. The journalists established that law enforcement officers and officials in the Kherson region were likely involved in both organising and covering up the murder. The individuals who commissioned the acid attack may be regional leaders whom Kateryna Handziuk had been obstructing through her outspoken activism.
The investigation was presented in Kyiv, Kherson, Odesa, Lutsk, Lviv, Rivne, Chervonohrad, Chernivtsi, and Dnipro. The film was also screened in Kyiv cinemas and broadcast on UA:Pershyi, Channel 24, and Hromadske.
