The High Council of Justice (HCJ) has opened a disciplinary case against Judge Volodymyr Serdynskyi, who is suspected of bribery and document forgery for travel abroad, Slidstvo.Info reports.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) received information that instead of attending a conference on assisting displaced persons, families with children, and orphans from Ukraine in the EU, the judge vacationed on Caribbean islands. This could result in his dismissal.
The Second Disciplinary Chamber of the High Council of Justice considered a complaint from the SBU against Judge Volodymyr Serdynskyi of the Boryspil District Court in Kyiv Oblast.
Previously, the SBU charged Serdynskyi under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — fraud and document forgery by prior conspiracy.
According to the investigation, Serdynskyi is involved in fraud and document forgery, which allowed him to illegally travel abroad under the guise of an official business trip in the summer of 2023.
Investigation materials indicate that instead of an official trip, the judge and his partner went on a cruise to the Caribbean islands.
To facilitate this, the judge used a forged invitation letter to participate in a conference on assisting displaced persons, families with children, and orphans from Ukraine in the EU.
In reality, no such events were held in the specified country at that time.
According to the case materials, a friend of the judge, who is an attorney, helped him obtain the fake invitation.
Earlier, Serdynskyi was caught receiving part of a bribe — $3,000. Law enforcement data indicates that the judge demanded $4,000 for “properly resolving an issue” during a court hearing.
The HCJ believes that the SBU’s complaint contains information that “may indicate the presence of disciplinary misconduct” by Judge Volodymyr Serdynskyi of the Boryspil District Court in Kyiv Oblast. Therefore, the HCJ opened a disciplinary case, which could lead to the judge’s dismissal.
