A 28-year-old Russian soldier from the Republic of Buryatia tortured and shot a civilian in the head during the occupation of Kyiv region, after which he and another accomplice hid the body of the victim in the sewer. Prosecutor’s investigators found out about this, and journalists from Slidstvo.Info identified the occupier.

On March 15, 2023, Ukrainian law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion of violation of the laws and customs of war during the occupation of Kyiv region to Sayan Ilyarov, a corporal and senior gunner of the 5th Tank Brigade of the 36th Combined Arms Army of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces.

From February 27 to March 31, 2022, the Russian military fully controlled the territory of the Bucha city territorial community in Kyiv Oblast, including sections of the Kyiv-Chop highway. Sayan Ilyarov, together with other occupiers, carried out the criminal order of his superiors – he shot civilians who were walking on the streets or driving in their cars.

According to the investigation, on March 2, 2022, the Russian military spotted a white civilian car and opened fire without warning, firing 21 shots. After that, the occupiers pulled a still-living civilian man out of the car, put a tourniquet on his leg and began interrogating him, hitting him in the face with the butt of a rifle. The wounded man was unable to answer the Russians’ questions, so Ilyarov shot the unarmed man in the head. After that, together with other Russian soldiers, Ilyarov threw the body of the victim into a sewer well near a gas station.

Sayan Ilyarov prudently changed his surname on his VKontakte page, but the journalists of Slidstvo.Info still identified the Russian military.

28-year-old Sayan Ilyarov (who signed himself as Sayan Tanganov in the Russian social network) lives in the city of Ulan-Ude, Republic of Buryatia. His military unit No. 46108 is stationed there.

Judging by the occupier’s social media, Sayan graduated from the “College of Sports and Service of the Republic of Buryatia”; he posts many photos from sports competitions on his page.

Probably, in 2014, Ilyarov joined the navy, as evidenced by his numerous photographs.

The man is proud of his military status, which he emphasizes on his page.

After the murder of a Ukrainian in the Kyiv region, the occupier returned to Ulan-Ude, changed into civilian clothes and gladly shows photos with his girlfriend, smiling for the camera.

Although Sayan Ilyarov changed his surname so that he could not be found on Russian social media, the desire to brag to his friends about his “adventures” in the criminal war in Ukraine was stronger. On July 21, 2022, the Russian military posted a photo with his “colleagues” online. This photo was probably taken during the occupation of Kyiv region.

Sayan Ilyarov is alive, he regularly logs into VKontakte. It is currently unknown whether the occupier has returned to Ukraine. For violation of the laws and customs of war combined with premeditated murder, Ilyarov faces 10 to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
