Law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion to Russian military officer Maxim Uvarov with call sign “Krasnodar.” Law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion to Russian military officer Maxim Uvarov, call sign Krasnodar. The investigation found that during the occupation of part of Mykolaiv oblast, Uvarov tortured a local woman whose son serves in the Armed Forces. The occupier doused her with diesel fuel and threatened to film “how a ukrop’s mother burns.” Slidstvo.Info journalists discovered that after his crimes in Ukraine, Russian president Vladimir Putin personally awarded Uvarov for “heroism in the Special Military Operation.”
This was reported by Slidstvo.Info.
Maksim Uvarov is a soldier of the 205th separate motorised rifle Cossack brigade of the Russian Armed Forces.
According to investigators, in the spring of 2022, Maxim Uvarov, along with other soldiers of the 205th Brigade, was stationed in the Mykolaiv region, which was partially occupied at the time. On 30 May 2022, Uvarov was in the village of Yevhenivka in the Bashtanka district. That day, together with another occupier (whom law enforcement has not yet been able to identify), he entered the yard of a local woman, threatened her and demanded her phone.
Uvarov tried to find information about whether the civilian was coordinating Ukrainian mortar fire and if her son served in the Ukrainian military. After this, Uvarov ordered the woman to put a black bag on her head and get in the car. The woman begged them not to do this due to health problems, but the Russians began threatening to tie her hands with zip ties and put the bag on anyway.
Together with the woman, Uvarov and another Russian soldier drove to the Kherson region. There they stopped near one of the houses in Kalynivske village, took the Ukrainian woman out of the car and began torturing her. In particular, with the bag on her head, they made the woman walk between two power line poles and lied that she was walking through a minefield.
Then they poured a substance that smelled like diesel fuel near the civilian. They also doused her legs with it. After this, Uvarov threatened the victim that he would set her on fire and offered his fellow servicemen to film “how a ukrop’s mother burns.”
After the abuse, Russian soldiers took the woman to a police station in Snihurivka, Mykolaiv region, where they illegally detained her until June 4, 2022.
The suspicion notice adds that at the time of committing the crime, Maxim Uvarov held the rank of lieutenant colonel and was commander of the 2nd Battalion of the 205th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade of the Russian army.
Slidstvo.Info journalists found that before the full-scale war, Maxim Uvarov could have held the position of battalion chief of staff, as his friends and acquaintances signed him in their phones as ‘Uvarov M-r (Major) NSh (Chief of Staff — transl.) 2 MSB (2nd Motor Rifle Battalion — transl.)’, ‘Max Uvarov 2MSB’, ‘Major Uvarov’.
Maksym Uvarov, 40, with the call sign ‘Krasnodar’, lives in Krasnodar but is originally from the town of Kropotkin in Krasnodar Krai. It seems that Lieutenant Colonel Uvarov has devoted most of his life to serving in the Russian army.
On 31 December 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin personally awarded Lieutenant Colonel Uvarov for ‘courage and heroism in the performance of combat missions during a special military operation’.
‘Today, our countryman, Lieutenant Colonel Uvarov Maxim Viktorovich, received a state award from the president. Putin visited the headquarters of the Southern Military District. He was accompanied by Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov,’ wrote one of the Russian regional media in the city of Kropotkin.
Below the article, fellow countrymen admire Uvarov and write praising comments.
The military, who were awarded by Putin on New Year’s Eve 2023, became the ‘backdrop’ for his New Year’s greetings. Putin recorded a 9-minute address, standing in front of the ‘heroes of the SMO’, including Uvarov. Afterwards, the military of the Southern Military District, together with Putin, Shoigu and Gerasimov, drank champagne and chanted ‘Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah!’
